Nutritious food should be accessible to everyone, and this month, you can help make that possible.
Our August Donation Need of the Month is canned fruit, one of the most requested pantry staples at Valley Outreach. Shelf-stable, nutritious, and easy to store, canned fruit helps families add healthy options to their meals throughout the year.
Why Canned Fruit Matters
Canned fruit is one of our highest-demand food shelf items. It provides an easy way for families to enjoy fruit even when fresh options aren’t available or practical. Whether it’s packed in lunches, served as a side dish, or enjoyed as a quick snack, canned fruit is a versatile staple that supports healthy eating.
Because it is shelf-stable, families can keep it on hand whenever they need it, making it an important part of a well-stocked pantry.
Our Most-Needed Items
This month, we’re especially looking for:
- Canned peaches
- Canned pears
- Canned pineapple
- Mandarin oranges
That said, we welcome any and all varieties!
How You Can Help
If you’re heading to the grocery store this month, consider adding a few cans of fruit to your cart before checking out. Every donation helps ensure our shelves stay stocked with nutritious options for people experiencing food insecurity.
Looking for an even bigger way to make an impact? Consider hosting a canned fruit drive with your workplace, school, faith community, neighborhood, or other group. It’s a simple way to bring people together while helping meet one of our greatest food shelf needs. Our donation drive toolkit makes it easy to get started.
