This summer, Valley Outreach is putting our large roof to work in a new way by installing solar panels that will turn daylight into long-term support for our mission. In a place where we experience all four seasons (sometimes in the same week), we’re always looking for ways to make the most of what each day brings. Harnessing solar energy is a natural next step—one that reflects both environmental responsibility and thoughtful stewardship of our resources.
Why Solar Matters for Our Work
At its core, this project is about strengthening our ability to serve the community. By reducing future utility costs, solar energy will help stabilize one of our ongoing expenses. That means fewer resources spent on rising operating costs and more directed toward the people and programs.
From food access and clothing support to personalized support services, every service we provide depends on reliable infrastructure. Investing in solar allows us to plan more confidently for the future, ensuring that we can continue to respond to community needs with consistency and dignity.
Simply put, every dollar saved on utilities is a dollar that can directly support a neighbor in need.
Building Momentum
This project has strong support. Our Board of Directors has approved the installation, and we’ve completed the due diligence needed to move forward with confidence. In addition, a reputable, experienced vendor has been selected to carry out the work, ensuring the system is built to perform for years to come.
Even more encouraging, two of our board members have already made personal commitments to help fund this effort. Their leadership reflects a shared belief in investing in long-term solutions that strengthen the organization from the inside out.
An Investment That Pays Forward
Solar is not just a one-time upgrade—it’s an investment that will continue to give back year after year. As energy costs fluctuate, having a renewable source of power provides predictability and protection against rising expenses.
Over time, the savings generated by this system will add up, creating more flexibility in our budget and allowing us to expand or sustain critical services. It’s a practical, forward-thinking approach that ensures we’re using every dollar as effectively as possible.
How You Can Be Part of It
As installation approaches, there is an opportunity to be part of this meaningful step forward. Gifts made now will help offset upfront costs and maximize the long-term impact of this project. By supporting this effort, you’re helping ensure that the financial benefits of solar energy can be fully directed toward our core programs in the years ahead.
This is more than an infrastructure project—it’s a commitment to sustainability, resilience, and community care.
