Have you ever wondered what happens after you drop off a bag of clothing at Valley Outreach?
Every shirt, jacket, pair of jeans, or dress begins a journey that helps strengthen the community. From the moment a donation arrives to the day it finds a new home, countless volunteers and staff work together to ensure every item has the greatest possible impact.

Step 1: Donation Drop-Off
The journey begins at our donation dock where community members can drive up during our accepted donation hours.
When you donate clothing, our donation attendants greet you, receive your items, and weigh each donation. Tracking the weight of incoming donations helps us measure our impact. After weighing, the clothing is set aside to begin the sorting process.
Step 2: Careful Sorting
Next, our dedicated sorting volunteers carefully inspect every item.
Each piece of clothing is checked to make sure it is clean, in good condition, and ready for a second life. Volunteers look for things like stains, holes, broken zippers, or missing buttons to ensure only quality items make it to the next step.
Once approved, items are sorted by size and category before making their way to the sales floor.

Step 3: From the Rack to the Sales Floor
As inventory on the StyleXchange sales floor changes, volunteers restock the store with newly sorted items.
Every day brings something different—from everyday basics and work attire to children’s clothing, outerwear, and unique finds. Because new donations are continually processed, there’s always something new to discover.
Step 4: Finding a New Home
The final step is the most rewarding. Valley Outreach clients use clothing vouchers to shop for the items they need, allowing them to choose clothing that fits their style, size, and lifestyle with dignity and choice.
Community members also shop at StyleXchange, purchasing high-quality clothing affordable prices. Every purchase supports Valley Outreach’s mission, as revenue generated by StyleXchange goes directly into client programs.

Your Donation Makes a Difference
A clothing donation is much more than a bag of clothes. It’s a warm winter coat for a child, professional attire for a job interview, everyday essentials for a family, or an affordable outfit for a community shopper. It also helps fund critical programs that support thousands of local families and individuals each year.
I love this place. Thank you for welcoming us with so much love and for helping us.
