Valley Outreach for another Mixer with a Mission, a one-of-a-kind fundraiser. This event features wine tastings (there are wonderful nonalcoholic options, too), savory appetizers, sweet desserts, and hands-on activities that bring our mission to life.

Are you still hosting a big gala, like Vibrant? No—we’ve retired that event in favor of a more community-centered approach. Inspired by thoughtful feedback from both donors and community members, we’re now hosting a variety of smaller gatherings, like Mixer with a Mission, throughout the year. This new approach allows our team to spend more meaningful time with supporters who want to learn about Valley Outreach programs and the impact of their generosity.
Is this event a fundraiser? Yes – we’re raising funds to support Valley Outreach programs. We are a community-powered organization, and the generosity of donors and volunteers is the reason our programs are a stable resource for people to get help.
Will there be food? We are big fans of food, so yes! Bella Vida is catering some amazing appetizers, including tasty SuperShelf Charcuterie Cups! Easy to eat and mission-focused, as Valley Outreach is the first of more than 80 SuperShelf food shelves in Minnesota!
Will there be drinks? Yes, and something fun for everyone! So What Wine will have many options for tasting, including delicious non-alcoholic beverages. We’ll also have water available.
Will there be desserts? Yes! While the iconic Dessert Dash, won’t be at this event, one of our favorite bakers will be. Milly’s Kitchen Madness and Bakes will be providing mouthwatering, seasonal desserts for guests.
What kind of activities will be at the event? We are working out the details now! Stay tuned to this webpage and social media as we reveal some of the fun details in the coming weeks.
- Mission 1: Spice Up the Shelf! – Did you know that one of the top needs in our food shelf is spices, seasonings, and condiments? Help us fill up an entire shopping cart by bringing your favorites to Valley Outreach for the Mixer with a Mission. These rich flavors make the nutritious foods we offer a meal!
Here are some ideas from our donation drive toolkit: Salt/pepper, garlic, cumin, salad dressing, condiments, olive oil – we also appreciate things like hot sauce, soy sauce, and fish sauce! - Mission 2: Good to Go or No? – Did you know every food and clothing donation is carefully reviewed to ensure quality? At the event, you’ll get hands-on, checking food items for freshness and safety. If it’s up to standard, it’s good to go! If not, it’s a no.
This mission helps us make sure every neighbor enjoys a dignified shopping experience with fresh, high-quality food. - Mission 3: Life Can Be Dicey – Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes circumstances beyond our control add up fast. For this mission, guests will roll two jumbo dice—each side featuring common life events that can create financial or personal stress. The combination shows how quickly challenges can multiply, leading someone to seek support at Valley Outreach.
- Mission 4: Pose with Purpose – Snap a picture with the Valley Outreach backdrop, post it to your Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, and tag @ValleyOutreach for a chance to win a fun prize and show your support for the community!
It’s a simple, fun way to spread the word and celebrate the good we can do together. - Mission 5: Closet to Community – Did you know everyone can shop at StyleXchange? Clients can receive high-quality clothing at no cost, and community members can get great deals that support Valley Outreach programs. See what a family of four could receive in a year through StyleXchange — clothing that supports their daily lives and helps them move forward with confidence.
How can I support Valley Outreach if I can’t attend the Mixer with a Mission? Check out the options on the Donate page or sign up to Become a Volunteer. There are many different ways you can be part of the Valley Outreach community.
Are there sponsors for this event? No – we’ve moved to an annual sponsorship program to support Valley Outreach throughout the year. We’ll be welcoming new and current sponsors back beginning soon for the 2026 calendar year! Learn more about the 2025 Annual Sponsors here.
Can I buy a table? No – this is a more casual event and will not have assigned table seating. We do encourage you to bring your friends and family!
Is this a kid-friendly event? No – this is an event for adults 21 years of age and older. (In 2026, we’ll host another family-friendly event, our Summer Celebration.)
