Whether it’s your first time visiting or you’re a returning client, we want your experience at Valley Outreach to be smooth, supportive, and welcoming. Here’s a quick guide on what you can expect when coming in to shop for food.
If It’s Your First Time (And You Have an Appointment)
Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.
When you arrive for your first appointment:
- You’ll check in at the Welcome Desk. We will give you a short eligibility form to review while you wait.
- Then, you’ll be called back for a brief intake appointment where we’ll get to know you a little better.
- During this time, we’ll explain our core programs:
- Food Programs (appointments and food pickup)
- Clothing Program (you’ll receive free clothing vouchers)
- Client Support Services (for those needing a little more personalized support)
The intake information is good for one year. (During future visits, let us know if you have a change to your family size or income. Then, once a year, we’ll do a quick check-in to update your information and make sure everything is current. We’ll also fill you in on any new programs, services, or changes since your last intake appointment.
If You Show Up Without an Appointment
It happens — especially for first-timers who didn’t know an appointment was needed. Don’t worry. You will always receive food, whether or not you have an appointment. That’s something that makes Valley Outreach unique — we never turn anyone away.
We’ll ask if you have an appointment and, if not, we’ll walk you through the process and explain the difference between appointments and food pickup so you can plan ahead for next time.
Many people don’t know this at first — but you can shop for food once a month by appointment and also receive food anytime via pickup. We’ll explain how food pickup works and give you the form you’ll need to use that service.
